Custom artwork inspired by Maldives diving

The story began with a chance encounter on Instagram. Masha came across a striking bathroom sign that we had designed for a previous client, and was so impressed that she contacted us right away. She wanted us to create a custom piece for her partner Idan’s thirtieth birthday, using our unique layering technique to create a stunning lighting effect.

Masha had a special occasion in mind for the custom piece: to commemorate her and her partner’s unforgettable diving experience in the Maldives.

After expressing her desire for a custom piece, Masha asked us a few important questions: Could we complete the project within a month? What size should the piece be, and which wall would it be placed on? Additionally, Masha had specific preferences for the lighting shade. During our initial phone conversation, we quickly realized that Masha had a clear vision of what she wanted. We collaborated closely with her to create a sketch of the couple at the center of the piece, surrounded by the beautiful creatures she remembered from her diving experience.

From this point, we began the process of bringing Masha’s vision to life.

After several days of hard work, including design, experiments, and illustrations, we were able to translate Masha’s vision into a digital rendering on the computer. We worked closely with Masha, paying close attention to every single detail, to ensure that the design met her exact specifications.

As artists, we have the pleasure of working with clients who have a range of different preferences. Some clients come to us with only a vague idea of what they want, allowing us to build their vision almost entirely from scratch. Others have a very specific artistic vision in mind and rely on us to bring it to life. Regardless of the approach, we find immense satisfaction, challenge, and pleasure in each project we undertake.

Once the design is completed and approved by the customer, we use a laser cutting process to create the delicate parts of the piece with the utmost precision. We use acrylic glass (perspex) as the material, and the finished product is composed of seven intricately cut layers that come together to form the final work:

Finally, we combine lighting to create the perfect atmosphere for the piece. For this particular project, we combined cold white LED lighting with a subtle touch of blue lighting. When the backlight is turned on, the result is breathtaking:
